Arena Spartacus what it looks like and how it works

spartacusupdates

Timers

In addition to the standard countdown timers for waiting and fighting, a more visual meter type timer was added. Until 4 players join a room, you do have the option to leave. The timer remains at -1s until the 4th person joins (you won’t see this is you are the 4th, 5th or 6th to join a fight). If you don’t want to fight with the players who have already joined, you can click on the “leave” link to leave the room and join another. For more details on how this works, go here.
wait
Once 4 players have joined, a 20 second timer is activated.

Once the fight starts, the meter will be 100% gray at the 90 second mark and will move towards 0% as the fight progresses.

Rank Sorting

During the fight players will shift in rank based onscore. This makes it extremely easy to monitor your placement throughout the fight and more importantly which players are standing in your way. Below I’m in position #2 and appear in the second line. Once I have more points than the player ahead of me, I move into the first line on the list. This eliminates the need to look at scores to calculate in your mind who is in what position.

Intervene Options

Intervene buttons allow you to perform actions (or non-actions) on specific players. They are located to the far right of the player list.
intervene
Clicking on the yellow cross hair symbol to the right of a target will attack the player until they are dead.
intervene1
Clicking on the blue defense icon will avoid them all together. Players that are much stronger than you often drain your stamina for very little return in score (damage done) and sometimes it’s to your advantage to avoid attacking them. Players who don’t like to attack their friends or mafia members will also find this option useful.
intervene2
In addition to the strip of click to use Power Ups under the timer, they can also be used in the intervene area. The difference is there is more control over which targets the Kamikaze and Drained Power Ups are used on. If you use them from above, they will apply to the first target you attack.
powerups
To use a Kamikaze or Drained Power Up on a specific player, click on it from the intervene area. If a player is dead, the Power Up will be shadowed and you can’t use it until their health is regenerated.
intervene3
The same principle applies to the Meta Flair, Pain Killer and Reflector. In order to activate them, you need to be alive and they will won’t light up until you are. In the image to the left, I’m have health so the Power Ups I’m eligible to use are in the on position. In the image on the left, my health is 0% and the ones I can’t use are shadowed. When you are dead you can always use a Health Refill. When you are alive they remain shadowed. You can also activate the Kamikaze and Drained Power Ups but they won’t trigger until you are alive and are used on the first opponent you hit. Obviously you can’t use the attack player until they are dead option if the player is already dead. If that is the case, the yellow cross hair symbol is also shadowed. The defense shield can be used at anytime because you are just avoiding the player.
intervene4
With all the moving around due to rank sorting, one might be worried that they would accidentally click on the wrong player. There is no need to fear because rank sorting becomes locked whenever your cursor is inside the intervene box. You can tell this is working because a lock icon will appear next to rank and sorting will be temporarily turned off until you move your cursor out of the box. While it’s locked, rank will be listed by number only. It’s a shame Zynga would never implement this on the home page! Many accidental reward point purchases would be avoided.

JOB BOARD

we now have a Job Board. Those Yoko RadX items have a duel purpose. They will help some players equipment scores but they will also be used to rank you against your family members and all other Mafia Wars players. The more jobs you do, the more loot items you will receive and the higher your rank will be. This will make energy players who use scripts very happy! The event will run for 7 days.
jobboard2
The in game instructions are very similar to the Iceboard.
Move up the Job Boards based on the amount of loot (Yoko RadX) you bag from Jobs in London. You need at least 5 active members in your Family to enable your Family Job Board. Your Family Job Board shows you where you stand in your Family and the Global Job Board shows you where you stand amongst all Mafia Wars players. Your Job Board ranking will reset to zero every week. Earn rewards for standing first on your Family Job Board or if you are a top three rank holder on the Global Job Board.

The top scorer of a random sample of 49 family members will get a Bresnoff Veter when the event expires.

The top 3 global jobbers will get a Forest Ranger. I’m very anxious to see what kind of numbers we will see for the Global leaders. Hopefully they won’t get banned once the event is over!

How to get power ups for arena

The Arena has rolled out to more players and hopefully everyone will have it soon. This is a review but a common question I see today is how to make or purchase Power Ups in the Arena. You can’t buy them in the Marketplace as the Arena has it’s own Marketplace. Once you enter the Arena, there are 3 tabs to choose from: Learn, Fight and Power Ups. The default is the Fight tab. To craft Power Ups with Power Cards or to buy them with reward points, go to the Power Up tab.
powerup1
Use the “Build” button to craft eligible Power Ups or use the “Buy” button to purchase them. For a review of each Power Up, go here

powerup2
When in the Holding Cell, players can only purchase Power Ups. I don’t recommend using this page to buy any Power Ups as it’s on a time. Once 4 members join the room, a 20 second countdown starts. After 15 seconds, you are placed in the fight.
powerup3
It appears Zynga will be running Limited Time offers for the Kamikaze Power Up like they do with 2X Property Builds and Skill Point Reallocation. When a “Limited Time Offer On Power Ups” label appears on the banner, the offer is active

Family Iceboard

The 4th round of the Iceboard is like the others before it but there is a game changing twist. Instead of random mafia members like we have seen in the past, your "random mafia members" are from your family and you can't remove them. There is no longer a Mafia Iceboard as it's now called the Family Iceboard. . Ice as many players as possible and try to score first in your random selection of mafia players or go for gold and try to be in the top 3 of all Mafia Wars players. The event will last a total of 7 days.
ice1
Get to the Family or Global rankings by using the “Iceboard” tab on the Home Page. You can toggle between the two boards. The Family Iceboard takes a random sampling of 50 players in your family. If you aren't in a family with at least 5 active members, you can't participate in this event.
. The Global Iceboard will list the Top 3 icers and then show 7 others who ice2The loot items are worth trying. If you are #1 in your Mafia you will get a Golden Peacock that has stats of 208/137. If you are in the top 3 globally you will get a Gold, Silver or Bronze Reinforced Motocross Helmet (stats shown below). ice3
Well at least we will be able to see who is active in the family and should help us get to next family level soooo come on
{DON} Family lets get those ices

Reward Point Protection

Most players have accidentally clicked on a purchase button and got something they didn’t want. It used to happen all the time with the Collectable Stat Card banner but Zynga was kind and added a confirmation screen  [1]. Unfortunately they didn’t add one to all purchase buttons. The 7 Day Deal banner is the latest culprit. The “Buy (45 RP)” button just sits there waiting for victims of screen jumping or module shifting to hit it. If only there were confirmations on all purchase buttons…If you use the Spockholm Toolbar, there now are! To never make an accidental purchase again, follow the steps below. It could take up to 24 hours for this feature to appear on your account.
rf1
1. First make sure you have the Spockholm Mafia Toolbar installed. Go here forinstructions. Open the Confirmation Page by clicking on the little wrench icon located to the far right of the toolbar.
confirm1
2.  Check on the “Add confirmation to RP spending” box which is located in the middle of the Display Options list.
confirm2
3. Close the Configuration Page and go about your business. You are no longer at risk for accidental purchases. All of your reward point purchase buttons will display a little key icon to indicated they are protected by the Spockholm confirmation.
confirm3
As with any toolbar feature, hover your mouse over it for an explanation.
confirm4
4. When clicked, Spockholm protected buttons trigger a popup confirmation. Clicking “Ok” is the equivalent to purchasing the item. In the case of a accidental click, click the “Cancel” button on this popup and your reward points will be saved. In case you want to make purchases, turn this feature off by unchecking it on the Confirmation Page. It's that easy.
